Effective Ways to Research a New Neighbourhood
Regardless of your preference, there are going to be some areas you definitely want to stay away from. Here are some great tips to research a new neighbourhood.
Price
You are going to want to know how much it will cost to live in the location of your choice and if your budget is going to allow it. There are some websites that will tell you the average house price and the average income in a certain area. However, the best way to find out is to check out the prices of the houses that are on sale.
Go and Visit
Go on a tour of the area, walk around and see what amenities are available. The more shops and restaurants there are, the higher the cost of living will tend to be. If you’ve got kids, or you are planning on having them you will also want to make sure there is a good school nearby. Public transport is always important, even if you have a car not everyone does and you will want to make sure that your guests have easy access to your house.
Crime Rates
No one wants to live in an area with a high crime rate. An internet search will pull up any information you are looking for because this information is available to the public. If you don’t want to rely on the internet, you can always contact the neighbourhood police station of the area you are planning on moving too. They will often provide you with any information you may be looking for.
Speak to People
When you go and visit the area, strike up conversations with people who live there. If the location has a lot of problems someone is going to find great pleasure in giving you all the reasons why you shouldn’t move there because now they feel as if it was the worst mistake of their life. Or they may be excited to tell you how great the neighbourhood is. The internet and other resources are only going to give you a snippet of the story, there is nothing better than hearing from the residents themselves.
